Welcome to the St Thomas More Parish website

Welcome to St Thomas More Parish, Campbell, situated to the east of Canberra City. Originally the area was grazing land on the Duntroon Property. With the expansion of Canberra in the late 1950’s and the early 1960’s, the suburb was established and became populated with many public servants who had transferred from Melbourne. The Parish was formally established on 1 February 1964, under the patronage of St. Thomas More, where previously the needs of Catholic people were provided by the then St Christopher’s Pro-Cathedral, Forrest.

Over the years, the Parish has become well known for the St. Thomas More Forum and its Catholic School. The Forum seeks to provide a platform for a dialogue of ideas between faith and culture in contemporary society. The local Catholic School is a small, tight knit community with many achievements over the years.

Newcomers to the Parish are particularly welcome. Please make yourself known either after Mass or contact the Parish Office (ph: 0416 823 447, or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.). Our community recognises the urgent need for the new evangelisation called for by the Pope’s John Paul II and Benedict XVI, and followed on by Pope Francis, to take place in our time, in our society. All parishioners are therefore encouraged to be involved in the life and mission of the Church.

Sincerely,

The St Thomas More Parish Community
